Thanksgiving Day Meal
No one in the Azle area need go without a traditional Thanksgiving meal or good company on Thanksgiving Day. Thanks in large part to First United Methodist Church and its director of serving ministries, Ken Leemon, as many as 940 individuals have eaten turkey, dressing and all the fixings on Thanksgiving Day. The meal began in 2015, and more than 400 people were served at the church. The numbers increased each year, and in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Ken and his army of volunteers stepped up to serve almost 1,000 people via drive-thru service and/or home delivery. The Azle Area Ministerial Alliance is grateful to partner with FUMC Azle for this event each year.

A team of volunteers helps prepare meals for the community as part of the Community Thanksgiving Meal program spearheaded by First United Methodist Church Azle and sponsored by the Azle Area Ministerial Alliance each Thanksgiving Day.
